Fire In Cell At HMP Gartree

Firefighters were called after a fire broke out in a cell at Gartree Prison.

They were sent to the jail near Market Harborough after being alerted about the blaze just after midday yesterday.

Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service say the fire had been put out by prison staff when crews arrived.

The Prison Service has told HFM no-one was injured in the incident.
