Work Underway On New Health Plan For Harborough

Written by on 9th August 2023

NHS bosses have begun drawing up plans for the future of health services across Harborough.

They are pledging to work with local people to find out what the community’s needs are, as services face increased pressure as the district continues to grow.

Phil Knowles, Leader of Harborough District Council and Harborough MP Neil O’Brien were among those to meet with officials to discuss the review, which will include looking at local hospital services as well as GP and dentist provision.

Cllr Knowles has welcomed the move to include residents in the planning:

Mr O’Brien, who is also government Minister for Primary Care, told HFM it is great that the local NHS are going to work with local people to plan out what health services are needed and wanted locally.

Andy Williams, Chief Executive of the local Integrated Care Board, told HFM: “As the District continues to grow, pressures on the NHS will inevitably increase, and so we are positively looking forward to engaging with the local council and with residents, in order to plan for the health services to meet the community’s needs for the future.”
