Fire In Barn Started Deliberately

Written by on 16th November 2020

Quick action by firefighters stopped a deliberately-started blaze in Desborough from turning into a major fire.

A large tyre was set alight inside a derelict barn at the top of Federation Avenue on Saturday afternoon.

Crews were called just before 2pm and extinguished the fire as it began to spread to the structure of the building.

Anyone with information about who started the fire, or saw suspicious persons in the area, should call Police on 101.

Meanwhile, firefighters used a boat to rescue a young swan with a broken wing at a reservoir near South Kilworth on Saturday.

A specialist animal rescue team was called to Stanford Reservoir after the cygnet was spotted struggling in the water.

The bird was placed in the care of the RSPCA, who have arranged for the injury to be treated.

A specialist animal rescue team from Northamptonshire Fire & Rescue Service was called to the scene
