Extra ambulances set for HFM region after £26m boost

Extra ambulances are set to be responding to emergency calls across the HFM region following a £26 million funding boost for East Midlands Ambulance Service.

The investment will allow EMAS to recruit up to 400 additional patient-facing staff over the next three years, with around 200 expected to be in place by October next year.

The service says the funding will eventually support around 40 extra ambulances and crews, helping to improve response times, particularly in rural areas, and meet growing demand across the region.

The money has been provided by integrated care boards across the East Midlands, which manage local NHS budgets.
