End of an Era as Market Harborough PDSA Shop Closes Doors

A long-standing charity shop in Market Harborough is closing its doors for the final time today.

The PDSA store on The Square has traded in the town since 2014, helping raise money to support pet owners with veterinary bills through the charity’s free and low-cost treatment services.

However, the charity says it has been unable to agree a new lease with the landlord and has taken the decision to close the branch.

Manager Sarah Hooper, who has been with the shop since it opened, thanked volunteers and customers for their support over the years.

Sarah and assistant manager Amy Holmes have lost their jobs as a result of the closure, while volunteers have also spoken of their sadness and the important role the shop has played in the community:

Acting Head of Retail at the PDSA, Neil Squire, said closing a shop is “never an easy decision” and thanked everyone who had donated, volunteered and shopped there over the past 12 years.
