‘Egg’ Gang Target Man, Restaurant & Supermarket

Written by on 26th February 2020

Police think a gang who threw eggs at two students in Market Harborough – in an attack linked to Coronavirus – have struck again, after a man was assaulted in St Mary’s Place.

Four teenagers hurled eggs at him at 8.30pm on Friday, followed by incidents at the near-by Pizza Express and Sainsbury’s, where eggs were thrown inside the premises.

The victim, aged 20, wasn’t hurt but was left shaken.

Officers believe it was the same group of boys, thought to be aged 14 to 15, who targeted Brooke House College students earlier this month and shouted racist comments at them, although are stressing Saturday’s incidents were not racially-aggravated.

They are studying CCTV in a bid to identify the boys and are appealing for witnesses and information.

Anyone who can help should call Police on 101, quoting Crime Reference 20000101773.
