Discounts totalling over half-a-million pounds were claimed by people in and around Market Harborough during the Eat Out To Help Out initiative.

The government scheme which ran throughout August, saw 80,000 reduced-price meals eaten in the Harborough parliamentary constituency, which also includes Oadby and Wigston.

The total value of discounts offered was £520,000, with 84 pubs, restaurants and cafes taking part.

Harborough MP Neil O’Brien told Hfm the scheme was a success and people need to continue to support the hospitality industry and other local businesses:

A number of pubs, restaurants and cafes are continuing to offer discounts this month after deciding to continue with the scheme themselves, or to offer something similar.
