Drain Cover Thefts Raise Safety Concerns

The theft of several drain covers from a road near Great Bowden has raised safety concerns for motorists and other road users.
The covers were stolen from Langton Road over the weekend, leaving a number of holes along the edge of the road.

It is believed the covers were taken for their scrap metal value.
Harborough County Councillor Sarah Hill has condemned the thefts and the danger they have created for road users:
Leicestershire County Council’s out-of-hours team was alerted by Leicestershire Police and attended the scene to make the area safe, placing cones over the holes.
The council says its team will return soon to follow up and inspect the area.
Police are investigating the thefts and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
