Dental Practice & Flats Plan For Former Bank Site

Plans have been revealed for a dental practice in part of a former bank in Market Harborough and to build flats on the site.

The proposal for the former HSBC bank on High Street would see the upper floors converted to accommodate four dental surgeries.

It also includes demolishing the rear flat-roofed elements of the building and an outbuilding, to make-way for five flats.

External alterations to the front of the premises are also proposed, in a bid to make the ground floor more attractive to potential commercial tenants.

Car parking is also included in the plan, which has been submitted to Harborough District Council for consideration.

The building has stood empty since the bank closed in May 2023.

A document provided with the application concludes: “The proposed alterations to the existing building are in keeping with its historic character and will help to conserve and enhance the Conservation Area.

“The proposal to redevelop the rear of the site in a sympathetic and appropriate manner reinforces the strong character of the area and will also conserve and enhance the Conservation Area.

“Overall, the form, scale and design of the proposed development ensures that it represents an appropriate addition to the area and is sympathetic to the existing building and the immediate surroundings.”
