Deluge Causes Flash Floods

Householders and businesses in the Harborough District are assessing their properties for potential water damage following this afternoon’s torrential downpour which turned some of Market Harborough’s streets into rivers.

Vehicles and pedestrians in the town centre were left trying to navigate through floodwater as the deluge left drains unable to cope.

Sainsbury’s petrol station was also flooded.

It’s being reported that 35mm of rain fell in just a couple of hours – with Harborough flood wardens deployed to clear blocked drains.
