Council Defends Local Plan Consultation

Harborough District Council (HDC) is defending its work on Harborough’s new Local Plan after MP Neil O’Brien called the public consultation a “sham”.
Mr O’Brien cites figures “quietly released by the council” showing that only 101 members of the public responded to the consultation – equating to just 0.1 per cent of the district’s population.
HDC points out that it’s still in the preliminary stages – and the draft Local Plan will be published for further public consultation early in 2025.
Meantime, Council Leader, Phil Knowles, says the new Government is currently consulting on changes to the National Planning Policy Framework which includes mandatory housing targets for every Council area…
