Council Leader Urges Government to Block Leicester Expansion

Harborough District Council leader Simon Whelband is urging the government to block any expansion of Leicester into the district.
He has written to housing minister Matthew Pennycook calling for him to reject any local government reorganisation proposals that would see parts of Harborough, including Great Glen, absorbed into the city.

More than 12,000 people have signed a petition opposing any expansion into neighbouring areas, which has been handed to government.
The government is currently considering a number of reorganisation plans for Leicestershire and Rutland.
