Man Jailed for Assaults on Woman

A man has been jailed for 16 months after carrying out two assaults on a woman on consecutive days.

Thomas Gaffney, 52, formally of Northampton Road, Market Harborough, admitted assaulting the woman in Corby on February 9th and 10th this year, causing actual bodily harm.

Following the incidents, police issued an appeal to trace Gaffney, saying he had last been seen pushing a wheelie bin.

Gaffney was sentenced at Northampton Crown Court and also made subject to a restraining order lasting until May 2031.

The order bans him from contacting the victim directly or indirectly and from going to Curloss Walk in Corby.

He was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £187.
