Leicestershire’s Chief Constable is praising the way the government’s lock-down rules are being adhered to.

Simon Cole says no fines have had to be issued so far in the county and his officers have been pleased with the way people in and around Market Harborough are stay in their homes apart from essential journey.

He told Hfm it’s vital that continues:

Farmers across the Harborough District are being praised for working harder than ever to ensure vital food supplies remain in shops during the Coronavirus pandemic.

Many are doing extra hours to keep up with increased demand.

Harriett Ranson, from the Leicestershire, Northamptonshire & Rutland branch of the National Farmers Union, spoke to Hfm:

The Leicestershire branch of Age UK has been given £10,000 by the county’s Police and Crime Commissioner to help them cope during the Coronavirus outbreak.

The cash from Willy Bach will enable the charity to continue delivering emergency food parcels and provide vital support to the elderly.

A helpline launched by Age UK locally is receiving around 175 calls a day.

With the camping season on-hold for the foreseeable future, the 1^st Bowdens group has donated all their spare food.

Cubs, Scouts and Beavers are keeping busy at-home as they currently can’t meet – with indoor camping and shelter building activities and virtual campfires on Facebook!
