A controversial planning application to develop 30 acres of land in Great Glen has been with withdrawn just hours before Harborough Council was to consider it.

Council planning officers were recommending the plan for land off Chestnut Drive was refused at tonight’s planning committee, saying it would harm the countryside location, impact on heritage locations near-by and be isolated from the rest of the village.

225 villagers had sent objection letters.

The meeting that was due to be held at the Three Swans Hotel in Market Harborough has been cancelled as the application was the only one to be considered.
