Closing date confirmed for Langton Inn Table Table

A closing date has been confirmed for a pub restaurant near Market Harborough.

The Langton Inn Table Table, next to the Premier Inn hotel off the A6 at West Langton, will serve its last customers on September 3rd as owner Whitbread continues its plans to phase out branded restaurants.

The closure is one of almost 200 restaurant sites across the UK and Ireland affected by the company’s restructuring programme, with around 4,000 jobs at risk.

In recent weeks, the restaurant has only been open to Premier Inn guests.

Whitbread says the changes are part of a new five-year strategy to become a more hotel-focused business centred on its Premier Inn brand.

Under the plans, some restaurant sites will be converted into additional hotel accommodation or sold, with around 3,600 new Premier Inn rooms expected to be created through the conversion programme.

A consultation with staff at the Langton Inn began when the proposals were announced in May. At the time, Whitbread said it hoped to redeploy as many affected employees as possible.

A spokesperson said: “We recognise the impact of this proposal on colleagues who work at the affected sites. As a business which recruits around 15,000 people every year, we expect to be able to retain a significant proportion of those affected and will be looking to redeploy as many of our impacted colleagues as possible.”

Following the consultation, Whitbread confirmed it would proceed with the closures.

The company said: “We will continue to offer a great breakfast and dinner at all hotels, replacing branded restaurants with a restaurant inside the hotel. This mirrors the format already in operation in more than half of Premier Inn hotels and is highly popular with hotel guests.”
