Clare’s Charity Head Shave Raises Over £3,000

Written by on 28th August 2025

A Market Harborough woman has raised over £3,000 for LOROS Hospice after having her head shaved at Harborough Market today.

Clare Farquhar, who runs the weekly Crochet and Chat group at the Market Hall, wanted to do something to support the charity in memory of former group member Liz, who spent time at the hospice before she died.

Clare also wanted to show support for her Mum, who has lost her hair during breast cancer treatment and was in hospital having an operation at the same time the shave took place.

A big crowd formed as Mandy Stevens from the Toni and Guy salon performed the big shave, with members of the croquet group, staff and traders from the market and Clare’s family and friends all cheering her on.

Clare spoke to HFM afterwards:

Members of Clare’s Crochet and Chat group told HFM they were very proud of her:
