Ribbon Cut As Kibworth Harcourt Windmill Restored To Former Glory

A celebration has taken place after work to restore the historic windmill in Kibworth Harcourt to its former glory was completed.

The two-year project has included new sails being installed on the 18th century Grade 2-listed structure on Langton Road, which can now operate for the first time since the 1930s.

The windmill is the only surviving post mill in Leicestershire and the work costing hundreds of thousands of pounds was funded thanks to a generous bequest to the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings, who own it.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held during yesterday’s celebration event, which happened during National Mills Weekend.
