Written by on 28th April 2020

Police are welcoming the announcement CCTV is to be installed in Market Harborough’s Welland Park.

The move by Harborough Council is part of investment of over £50,000 in its network of cameras, which will also see additional ones put up in Lutterworth town centre, and be monitored around the clock.

Sergeant Pete Jelbert from Harborough Police spoke to Hfm:

The new locations have been decided following consultation with Police, and although installation is currently on-hold due to the Coronavirus outbreak, the new cameras should be up and operational by late autumn.

Cllr Michael Rickman, Cabinet lead for community safety, said: “We are delighted to be introducing more CCTV cameras to further boost public safety and confidence across the district.

“We have consulted Police about precise locations as well as including some useful suggestions from district councillors and residents.”
