Campaign Gathers Pace for Market Harborough Town Council

Hundreds of residents have backed calls for Market Harborough to have its own town council, as a petition passes the halfway mark towards triggering a formal review.

More than 800 people have signed so far — and if 1,600 residents sign, Harborough District Council will be legally required to carry out the review.

Supporters say a town council is needed to ensure the town is properly represented, especially with local government reorganisation on the horizon.

However, HDC’s initial plan for such a move was turned down by councillors last month.
