Calls For More Police After Spate Of Raids

There are calls for more Police resources in Market Harborough in the evening and overnight following a spate of burglaries and smash and grab raids.

In the last week Diamond Mowers, The Square Bar, Wildwood Restaurant and Tesco Express, have all been targeted.

The most recent raid late on Monday at Tesco off Rockingham Road saw staff threatened by four masked men who fled with a large quantity of cigarettes.

Harborough MP Neil O’Brien wants Police to review resourcing levels in the area and Harborough Councillor Phil Knowles is meeting Police Chiefs next week over the issue.

Leicestershire Police say they have a committed Neighborhood Team based in Market Harborough supported by response officers and investigators who are working hard to prevent offences and identify offenders.

They’re studying CCTV in connection with the burglaries as part of on-going investigations.
