Britain In Bloom Gold For Market Harborough

Market Harborough’s In Bloom team are celebrating winning gold in the Britain in Bloom competition.

The dedicated team of volunteer gardeners picked up the top accolade after the town was selected to represent the East Midlands in the prestigious Royal Horticultural Society contest.

Barbara Tallis, chair of the Market Harborough In Bloom volunteers, spoke to HFM after the results were announced last night:

Barbara Tallis was also handed a Community Champions award for her efforts in coordinating the In Bloom team and a Young Champions Award was presented to the volunteers to give to Tom Appleton, a pupil at Ridgeway Primary Academy, who judges met during their tour of town in August.

Market Harborough missed out on being crowned overall winner in the Large Town category, which was won by Oswestry in Shropshire, but was one of just five of the ten towns entered to be handed a gold award.
