Big Rise In Shoplifting Across Harborough

Shoplifting across Harborough has increased by 57% in the past year, with 280 incidents reported in the district.
Shop workers are calling for police to do more to help with what they call ‘unprecedented levels’ of theft and abuse.
The Coalition of Businesses and Staff has written to police and crime commissioners across the country, urging them to take the issue more seriously.

Latest figures show there were 280 reported thefts from shops in the Harborough District between April 2022 and March this year, compared with 178 in the 12-months before, which did include some periods of lockdown due to Covid-19.
