Arrest After House Fire In Market Harborough

A woman was arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life after a fire at a house in Market Harborough.

Firefighters were called to the blaze in the kitchen of the property in Eady Drive, on the Blackberry Grange estate, on Tuesday afternoon.

No-one was injured.

A spokesperson for Leicestershire Police told HFM: “We received a call from Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service at 4.03pm on Tuesday (8 April) following a fire at a property in Eady Drive, Market Harborough.

“The fire was later extinguished, and enquiries suggest that it was caused deliberately.

“A 64-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life.

“She has since been released on police bail as our investigation continues.”

Three fire crews were called to the blaze at 3.50pm and a spokesperson for Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service said: “Market Harborough crew attended, along with two appliances from Northamptonshire.

“On arrival, a fire was confirmed, and two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus and one hose reel jet were in use.

“The fire was extinguished, and the incident was handed over to the police.”
