Appeal After Hammer Attack

Police are investigating after a man attacked another man with a hammer in Market Harborough town centre.

It happened on the High Street at around 5.30pm on Saturday.

Both the suspect, who had his face covered, and the victim fled following the incident.

The incident happened close to the Church Square junction by the zebra crossing and Leicestershire Police received numerous 999 calls, as the area was busy with shoppers at the time.

A spokesperson for the force told HFM: “Officers are carrying out further enquiries after a number of reports were received relating to an assault in the High Street, Market Harborough, around 5.30pm on Saturday (21 June).

“It’s believed a man may have been assaulted by someone carrying a hammer.

“When officers arrived at the location no one was found. Enquiries are ongoing to locate the victim and identify the suspect.
