Flag-Raising Salutes Armed Forces

The Armed Forces Day flag has been raised in Market Harborough to mark the start of a week to recognise the work of the armed forces community.

It was unveiled on top of the Symington Building during a ceremony on Church Square this morning, attended by veterans, representatives from service organisations, Harborough District Council and others.

The occasion, which included a minute’s silence, marked the build-up to Armed Forces Day on Saturday, when the public show their support and appreciation for the Armed Forces community.

Armed Forces Day is the opportunity for the nation to show its support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community, from currently serving personnel to service families, veterans and cadets.
