Appeal After Arson Attack At Football Club

A deliberately-started fire has caused thousands of pounds worth of damage to a stand at Rothwell Corinthians Football Club.
It broke out at the Sergeants Lawn ground off Desborough Road at around 7.15pm yesterday and destroyed over 20 plastic seats.
Members of the club’s committee rushed to the scene after being alerted to the incident and were able to extinguish the fire using buckets of water before it spread.

The club estimates the cost of the damage to be between £2,000 and £3,000, with the fire coming ahead of a big game at the ground this weekend, in the first round proper of the FA Vase.
Chairperson Lottie McCarthy told HFM: “We can’t understand why someone would want to do this to our club.
“It is just mindless and will mean we will now have to try and find the funds to make the necessary repairs.”
Northamptonshire Police are investigating the incident and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
