Apology After Severn Trent No-Show Causes Traffic Disruption

A lane was cordoned off near Kibworth Business Park on Friday, linked to overnight repairs, which led to lengthy delays for frustrated drivers.

One driver described it as “a complete joke” and said itcaused unnecessary delays and stress for hundreds of drivers.
A Severn Trent spokesperson said the traffic management had been used to keep teams and others safe during essential overnight repairs, adding they were sorry for the delay in removing it and thanking residents for their patience.
However, Harborough MP Neil O’Brien described the situation as “absolutely ridiculous” and said it was not the first time similar disruption had happened, adding the company had previously been fined for failing to carry out work after setting up temporary traffic lights.
He has contacted the company demanding answers.

The situation comes a week after separate disruption for drivers in Market Harborough, when traffic management was put in place in The Square despite no work taking place.
