More than 100 flags have been raised above shops and businesses in Market Harborough to mark Pride Month.
The rainbow-coloured Progress Pride flags will remain in place throughout June as retailers join forces with Harborough District Council to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community and promote equality and diversity.

The Progress Pride flag is also flying above the council’s Symington Building headquarters in the town centre.

Pride Month, held each June, celebrates LGBTQ+ communities around the world and commemorates the 1969 Stonewall riots in the United States, which became a landmark moment in the fight for gay rights.
As well as celebrating progress in LGBTQ+ equality, Pride Month also aims to raise awareness of issues including discrimination and homophobia that continue to affect people within the community.
