Aldi Announce Plans For New £5m Store In Market Harborough

Aldi has announced plans for a new £5m store in Market Harborough.
The discount supermarket giant wants to build it at the corner of Rockingham Road and Gores Lane, to replace its existing store on Springfield Street, which it says is too small and no longer meets customer expectations.

Aldi will submit a planning application to Harborough District Council shortly and if approved, 15 additional jobs would be created when the new 1,315-sqm store opened.
A spokesperson said: “This multi-million pound investment will rejuvenate a brownfield site off Rockingham Road and transform it into a high-quality community facility.
“If approved, the new store would replace Aldi’s existing store on Springfield Street, providing customers in the town with a more spacious and modern retail environment to complete their shopping.”
How the site would be laid out
The new store, which would comprise of a single-storey building facing Gores Lane, with double height frontage, would include a 129-space car park.
It would be built on the site currently used by Glenmere Timber, who have been approached for comment.
