Shoppers are being warned to be on-guard after an elderly woman had her purse stolen in Market Harborough.
It is thought the 87-year-old was targeted while she was in the Oxfam shop on the High Street, with a thief removing the purse from her bag.
It contained cash, cards and sentimental photographs, including of her late husband,
Police are urging people to be vigilant when in shops, to attach chains and bells to purses, which are available from Market Harborough Police Station, and report anything suspicious.
The theft happened at about 10.45am on Thursday and there is also an appeal for sightings of the black leather purse, which may have been discarded, with the photographs still inside.
