Affordable Homes Plan Approved in Kibworth Despite objections

Plans for up to 32 affordable homes in Kibworth Beauchamp have been approved despite opposition from residents.

The development on land off Fleckney Road will deliver 100 per cent affordable housing, with councillors backing the scheme by five votes to three, despite 31 objections and parish council concerns.

The outline application covers an agricultural field between Fleckney Road and Wagtail Avenue.

Objectors raised concerns about the site being outside development limits, impact on the countryside, pressure on local services, and highway safety, but councillors concluded the benefits outweighed the issues raised.

A key factor in the decision was that Harborough District Council cannot currently demonstrate a five-year housing land supply.

Under national planning policy, this means permission should generally be granted unless any harm is shown to significantly and demonstrably outweigh the benefits.
