A flytipper has been fined £660 and ordered to pay costs of over £3000 for dumping asbestos-laced building materials at the side of a country road near Shangton.
Tibor Szamosi was spotted throwing six bin bags out of a van by a farmer, who noted down the registration number.
Harborough Council, who had to call in specialists to remove the hazardous waste last August, tracked him down and the 28-year-old, of Kirkdale Road, Wigston, has been found guilty of flytipping by Magistrates.
It’s the second prosecution through the Courts to be made as part of the authority’s Tip-Off campaign – other fines have been also been issued to dumpers.
