Litter Louts To Be Targeted With New Vehicle

People throwing litter out of vehicles could now be caught on camera and fined as a new vehicle to help tackle environmental crime across the Harborough District hits the road.
The 4×4 –equipped with recording cameras – will also be used to access hard to reach fly-tipping hotspot areas and where abandoned vehicles are dumped.
It’s been bought by Harborough Council and its contractor, FCC Environment – and will also be deployed in any emergency situation.
Councillor Jonathan Bateman said: “Most flytipping incidents, for example, happen in remote locations, such as bridleways, but this vehicle will be able to get out and about and respond to incidents wherever they are.
“Not only will it be used for enforcement, it can respond to incidents as part of the Council’s remit in dealing with emergencies such as floods.”
