Wreath To Be Laid In Belgium On Behalf Of Harborough

Members of Market Harborough’s Royal British Legion are joining thousands today in Belgium to pay their respects to those who died during WW1.

They’re taking part of the Legion’s ‘Great Pilgrimage 90’, which is recreating an event in 1928.

That saw over 11,000 veterans and war widows visiteing the Somme and E-per before marching to the Menin Gate – a decade after the end of the war.

Exactly 90 years later, Chairman of the Harborough branch, John Standish is one of those following in their footsteps – together with the group’s Standard Bearer.

He’ll lay a wreath at the gates on behalf of Market Harborough.
