Drug-related Deaths Rise Across Harborough

Written by on 8th August 2018

The number of drug-related deaths across Harborough is on the rise, according to new figures.

In the past two years ten people – six men and four women – have died due to illegal substance abuse in the District, compared with four recorded in the two years before.

The Office For National Statistics says across Leicestershire the figure rose from 58 to 80 and in Northamptonshire from 105 to 130.

Charities say most drug-related deaths are avoidable, and warned that abusers need better care to help deal with underlying health conditions.
