Lucky Escape After Large Tree Falls Onto Car

A Market Harborough woman and her partner had a lucky escape after a large oak tree fell onto their car.

It happened on Sunday evening when Sarah Duckett was driving with Craig Kirkup along Welham Road in Thorpe Langton.

The tree – thought to be hundreds of years old – collapsed in front of them, embedding itself into the front of the Peugoet, leaving Craig trapped and having to be released by the Fire Service.

The couple suffered whiplash and back injuries.

Firefighters who attended say the lack of rain has left trees more susceptible to being unstable.

Sarah has spoken to Hfm about the incident in a bid wants to warn others that trees could be liable to fall.
