Calls are being made for urgent action to tackle mounting rubbish at St Mary’s Place shopping centre in Market Harborough.
Bins are overflowing, with a large pile of black bags containing retailers’ rubbish and other refuse building up in the service area.

Bins are overflowing and a large pile of black bags from retailers is building up in the service area.
One trader told HFM: “It looks a right mess and there is the worry about it becoming a health hazard with rats if the pile of rubbish is not collected soon.”
Another trader said: “Having bins overflowing and litter blowing around just makes the whole place look appalling.”

Bins are overflowing because they have not been emptied.
The centre is privately run and Harborough District Council says it is aware of the situation.
A council spokesperson said: “The council is aware of the issue at St Mary’s Place and officers are looking into the matter. We are working with those responsible to address the situation and ensure the area is brought back up to an acceptable standard.”
The company responsible for managing the centre has been approached for comment.
