Villagers Demand Answers Over Repeated Water Outages

Written by on 28th October 2026

Residents affected by repeated water supply problems near Market Harborough are demanding action.

Villages including East Farndon, Clipston, Great Oxendon and Kelmarsh have suffered 11 interruptions this year.

The latest disruption on Monday left residents with no water or low pressure and was caused by several burst water mains near Sibbertoft, which caused reservoir levels to fall.

Senior Anglian Water officials are due to face residents at a public meeting at East Farndon Village Hall on November 12th, with Daventry MP Stuart Andrew also attending.

Mr Andrew has called for a plan to make the network more resilient and East Farndon Parish Council chairman Bernie Fallon described the situation as unacceptable:

Anglian Water has apologised for the latest outage and said it used tankers to boost the network, as well as delivering bottled water to affected households on Monday.

The company said supplies were fully restored yesterday after repairs were carried out.

An Anglian Water spokesperson said: “We’re really sorry that some customers in East Farndon, Clipston and the surrounding areas had low water pressure or no water at all on Monday (26 October). This was because of several burst water mains in the Sibbertoft area, which caused water levels at our local reservoir to fall significantly. We’re pleased to say that our teams successfully repaired all the burst pipes yesterday, and everyone’s water supply should be back to normal.

“We know it was particularly frustrating given the issues in the area earlier this month. Because of the recent issues in this area, we’ll be keeping a close eye on the pressure across the network to make sure everything continues to work as it should.

“Thanks to all our customers in East Farndon, Clipston and the surrounding areas for bearing with us while we got things back to normal.”

Due to limited space at the village hall, the November 12th meeting is for East Farndon residents only. However, local councillors representing other affected villages have also been invited.
