Central Co-op is marketing its High Street store as part of a wider review of its business.

A Central Co-op spokesperson said: “We have identified that our Desborough High Street store is facing challenges that are affecting its long-term financial sustainability.”

The retailer says it is exploring a range of options for the future of the store, with a potential sale being one of them.

It says putting the shop on the market “should not be interpreted as a decision to sell or close the store”.

Central Co-op says it is also considering other options, including investment, different ways of operating the store and, where there is active member interest, community ownership.

The store remains open and trading as usual while the review takes place.

The retailer says staff have been spoken to directly and will continue to be kept informed.

It says: “No decision has been made regarding the future of the store.”

Central Co-op says the wider review is intended to ensure its food business is sustainable in the long term and supports future investment and growth.

The retailer sold its previous store on Braybrooke Road in Desborough in 2024.
