Strike Action Affecting Market Harborough Trains Suspended

Strike action which would have affected train services from Market Harborough next Wednesday and Thursday has been suspended.
The RMT union says there has been “substantial movement” from management at East Midlands Railway in a dispute over safety concerns surrounding faults with the company’s Class 810 Aurora trains.
However, action short of strike action due to begin on September 20th remains in place if any unsolicited brake applications occur while the train is in service.
East Midlands Railway says it will now run a full timetable on both day
RMT General Secretary Eddie Dempsey congratulated members for their continued determination to ensure the fleet is only used in safe conditions.
He said: “However, it is disappointing that EMR will not accept simple union demands around unsolicited brake applications and the Aux On/Off failures.
“We all want to ensure a safe railway and RMT members at EMR will remain vigilant in the fight for safety.”
East Midlands Railway says it will now run a full timetable on both days next week.
Philippa Cresswell, Customer Experience Director at East Midlands Railway, said: “We welcome the suspension of the planned strike action and the opportunity this provides to continue our discussions with the RMT to fully resolve the dispute in a constructive way.”
