Harborough Man Fears For Missing Friends & Relatives in Nepal

A Market Harborough man is waiting anxiously for news of relatives and friends missing following devastating floods in Nepal and Tibet.
More than 350 people are now known to have died after a huge torrent of water, mud and debris swept through communities along the Nepal-Tibet border following a glacial collapse.

Over 1,300 people remain missing, including 33 British nationals.
Pradip Karanjit, who owns Everest Lounge restaurant in Market Harborough, grew up in Nepal. He says his immediate family is safe, but relatives and friends remain unaccounted for:
The UK Government has offered £5 million in aid, along with emergency responders and consular support for British nationals affected by the disaster.
Meanwhile, a Market Harborough charity with strong links to Nepal is also standing by to offer support.
Charles Barton founded the New Futures Nepal charity with his wife in 2002. The organisation supports orphaned and disabled children in Nepal through a number of projects.
