Market Harborough Cobbler To The Rescue On Wedding Day

Written by on 31st July 2026

A Market Harborough cobbler came to the rescue after a bride’s wedding shoes fell apart just minutes before her ceremony.

Grace Edwards’ groom Dan rushed to Anand Shoes on the High Street, where joint owner Rajan Chavda carried out an emergency repair.

The shoes had immense sentimental value as had also been worn by Grace’s mother on her wedding day almost 30 years ago.

Rajan, who runs the shop with his father Kailash, managed to complete the repair just in time for Grace and Dan’s ceremony at the registry office in the Symington Building last Friday.

The quick-thinking cobbler has been praised for helping make sure the couple’s special day could go ahead as planned.

Grace, who grew up in Kibworth, said she and Dan were “extremely grateful” to Kailash and the team at Anand Shoes for their “friendly and quick service”, which she said “saved the day for us.”

Rajan Chavda told HFM about the last-minute repair:
