Double Commonwealth Games Medal Success for Desborough Athletes

Desborough is celebrating a double medal success at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
Para swimmer Bruce Dee won bronze in the men’s S7 50-metre freestyle final last night, setting a new British record in the process.
And fellow Desborough athlete Lauren Mackie is also guaranteed a medal after reaching the semi-finals of the women’s boxing.
Making his Team England debut, Bruce, 19, said the support of friends and family in the crowd helped him secure his medal:

Lauren, 20, was first to book her place on the podium, beating Wales’ Helen Jones by unanimous points decision in the women’s 54kg quarter-final.
“I’m buzzing,” said the Desborough fighter, who will face Canada’s Scarlett Savannah Delgado in the semi-final tomorrow.
Both athletes are competing for Team England at the integrated Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
