New Friendship Park Sculpture Installed in Market Harborough

A striking new sculpture has been installed at Market Harborough’s Friendship Park.
The three-metre steel artwork features friendship-themed words and phrases, which will be projected onto the park’s pathways by sunlight during the day and by lighting at night once complete.
The £10,000 installation has been funded by FCC Environment, which helped create the park on Northampton Road last year, with final work on the installation still ongoing.

The previously overgrown area was transformed by Harborough District Council for residents to sit, meet and socialise.
The park was officially opened in May 2025 after includes apple trees, along with pear, plum and cherry trees, plus hazel, walnut and soft fruit bushes.
Wildlife features include wildflowers, berry-bearing hedges, bat and bird boxes, and a stumpery which has already attracted bees and small mammals.
Accessible pathways and seating have also been installed to improve inclusivity and public access.
