Medbourne Classic to mark Armed Forces Day

Written by on 27th June 2026

Thousands of people are expected to attend the Medbourne Classic today as the village hosts one of Leicestershire’s official Armed Forces Day events.

Around 2,000 visitors are expected at Medbourne Sports and Social Club, where more than 200 classic cars, military vehicles and motorcycles will be on display.

The event will be officially opened by the Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Leicestershire and features a packed programme of attractions, including a Battle of Britain Memorial Flight flypast, RAF re-enactors, a working 1930s aircraft engine, a full-size glider from Husbands Bosworth Gliding Centre, vintage tractors, trade stalls and family entertainment.

Market Harborough Air and Sea Cadets will be helping throughout the day, while HFM will provide music and interviews with invited guests.

Chairman Carl Blencowe said the aim of both the Medbourne Classic and Armed Forces Day is to celebrate those who have served, those who are currently serving, and to inspire the next generation.

He said: “The role of our Armed Forces is becoming increasingly important in these turbulent times, and it’s only fitting that we recognise and appreciate the role they play and the sacrifices they make.”

The volunteer-run event is raising money for the RAF Benevolent Fund, The Royal Anglian Regiment Charity, Pancreatic Cancer UK and LOROS.

Gates are open to the public from 10am until 4pm.  More details HERE
