Market Harborough Rail Passengers Face Two Weekends of Disruption

Rail passengers in Market Harborough are being warned of disruption over the next two weekends, with no trains serving the town because of engineering works.
Replacement buses will operate to Leicester and Kettering, where passengers can rejoin East Midlands Railway services.

Network Rail is carrying out a series of upgrades, including the renewal of drainage systems at Great Bowden and the replacement of a switch and crossing at Leicester South Junction — the section of track that allows trains to move between lines.
The Great Bowden work will see more than 200 metres of drainage renewed to help prevent flooding, protect the railway and improve reliability. An under-track crossing, which allows utilities to pass safely beneath the railway, will also be upgraded.
The work is aimed at improving the long-term reliability of services on the Midland Main Line.
