Market Harborough’s The Village Secures £19k Lottery Grant

A community hub in Market Harborough has been awarded more than £19,000 from the National Lottery Community Fund.
The grant will help to cover rent costs at The Village on St Mary’s Road and ensure vital services, including the Community Fridge and café can continue operating.
“This funding gives us vital breathing space,” said the team at The Village. “It helps cover our rent and keeps our services open, ensuring we remain a hub for anyone who needs it.”

Every month, The Village saves over 2.5 tonnes of surplus food from going to waste—almost 4 tonnes in January alone—and redistributes it to local homes where it’s needed most.
Visitors can drop in for a cuppa and cake, collect food from the fridge, or simply enjoy time around others.
The Village team thanked volunteers, who give an average of 400 hours a month, as well as everyone who uses and supports the hub. “This grant recognises all of that collective effort and helps keep our doors open,” they added.
