Sainsbury’s to open new store on Little Bowden estate

Sainsbury’s is to open a new convenience store on a housing development in Little Bowden.

The shop will be located within a new local centre under construction at the Davidsons Homes site off Kettering Road.

It will be the first retail outlet on the estate, with talks ongoing to bring a coffee shop into a neighbouring unit.

Ward councillor Peter James has welcomed the move, saying it will provide a valuable local amenity for residents:

The Sainsbury’s Local store will occupy a 4,458 square foot unit and follows the opening of a Sainsbury’s outlet on the Wellington Place estate in Market Harborough at the end of last year.

Commercial agents Wells McFarlane say securing a well-known retailer as an anchor tenant will help establish the site as a focal point for the growing community.

Director Andrew McFarlane Holt said: “Well-positioned, energy efficient retail units like these are in high demand and with this significant long-term letting now confirmed, we expect the final available premises to let quickly.

“At 1,039 sq ft and self-contained, it would suit a variety of retailers, from a boutique clothing shop to wellness studio/salon to a crafty, artisanal producer. Interested tenants are encouraged to arrange viewings quickly.”

The retail units expected to be ready for occupation by late summer or early autumn.

An opening date for the Sainsbury’s store has not yet been confirmed.
