£2.7m flood defence investment for Harborough area

The Environment Agency is to invest £2.7 million to reduce flood risk in Little Bowden, Braybrooke and Clipston.
The funding will be used to improve flood storage reservoirs, helping to reduce the risk of river flooding.
The improvements form part of a major national investment programme announced today aimed at protecting homes and businesses from flooding.
Flooding in Market Harborough town centre in 2024
Several properties in Little Bowden, including the Cherry Tree pub, were flooded in November 2024 when the River Jordan burst its banks.
Shops in Market Harborough were affected during flash flooding in the town centre in September of that year.
Leicestershire County Council has also secured £51,000 in funding towards a project aimed at reducing surface water flooding in Market Harborough.
